XLC Presta/Sclaverand valve (SV)The Presta valve (also called French valve or Race valve) qualifies for high pressure and is used for MTBs, race bikes or touring bikes. To inflate the tyre, the small knurled nut placed on the thread pin has to be loosened. As this valve, as opposed to the Schrader valve, is not kept closed by a spring but by the excess of pressure within the tyre, it does not have to be opened mechanically in order to be pumped up, but opens up by itself at the slightest difference of pressure.
