XLC Schrader valve (AV)The Schrader valve is often found in mountain bikes. Besides, it is also used for cars, which is why it is also called ‘car valve’ (Autoventil) in German. When a pump head or a manometer is attached, a pin is pressed down within the valve, opening it and allowing the air to enter or the air pressure within the tyre to be measured. Hand pumps for Schrader valves therefore need a non-return valve in the pump head. An advantage of the Schrader valve is the possibility of inflating it at petrol stations without the neeed of adapters.
